What you need to know
The Government is offering a selection of EV grants making it more affordable for you to own an electric vehicle. These electric vehicle grants not only support the cost of purchase, but can also help you save money when choosing to install a charging station at your home or place of work.
Workplace Charging Scheme
The workplace charging scheme (WCS) is offered by the government as a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge points. Claim up to £14,000 with the workplace charging scheme.
Any business, charity or public authority is eligible to claim the grant towards the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points, providing they have dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet use only. You are a public authority if you are a government department or one of their agencies, the armed forces, a local government, the NHS and emergency services. In considering eligibility, OZEV will use the public authorities referenced in LGA Act 2003, Section 33 and the Freedom of Information Act, Schedule 1, parts 1-3.
EV Home Charging Scheme EVHS
The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is a grant that provides a 75% contribution to the cost of one charge point and its installation. A grant cap is set at £350 (including VAT) per installation. The main requirement is that a person owns, leases, or has ordered a qualifying vehicle and has dedicated off-street parking at their property. A person may apply for 2 charge points at the same property if they have 2 qualifying vehicles. From April 2022, the EVHS has changed and is now only open to homeowners who live in flats and people in rental accommodations.
How To Claim an OZEV EVHS Grant?
To claim up to £350 off the cost of your new home charging point, all you have to do is answer a few simple questions and share some documents with us prior to installation. We take it from here & claim the grant on your behalf.
